Maryland had an extended wait Friday night before playing its NCAA women’s semifinal lacrosse matchup with Northwestern. But once the Terps got started, they pounced on the Wildcats for an early lead in a game that ended too late for this edition. The Terps’ start was delayed because of a clock malfunction and because the first semifinal went to double overtime with Boston College edging North Carolina, 15-14. Carolina had Boston College on its heels before a packed house at Homewood Field in the Division I women’s lacrosse national semifinals, sprinting to a 6-0 lead. However, the Eagles charged back to advance to Sunday’s championship on the campus of Johns Hopkins University. Coverage PG 3 and baltimoresun.com/sports.
