Colts coach Shane Steichen announced Wednesday that he was making yet another quarterback change, handing the reins back to Anthony Richardson while benching 39-year-old Joe Flacco.

“He’s going to be our starter again, he’s going to start for the rest of the season and we’re going to go from there,” Steichen said.

Steichen made the first change because he said Flacco, a former Super Bowl MVP with the Ravens and last year’s comeback player of the year with the Browns, gave the Colts (4-6) the best chance of winning now.

Instead, Flacco committed six turnovers in two losses, the offense struggled to get in the end zone or stay on the field and the Colts lost ground in the race for the AFC’s seventh and final playoff spot.

So now the Colts are turning back to their 22-year-old franchise QB, whom they took with the No. 4 pick in the 2023 draft.

Law enforcement reports show the homes of Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and TE Travis Kelce were broken into last month. The break-ins happened just before and on the day of the Chiefs’ 26-13 home victory over the Saints on Oct. 7. No injuries were reported in either case.

College football: Southern California was fined $50,000 and placed on probation for one year by the NCAA because of multiple violations of coaching staff rules over two seasons. An NCAA investigation found that USC exceeded the allowed number of countable coaches during the 2022 season along with spring practices in 2023.

NBA: Donovan Mitchell scored 11 of his 23 points in the final three minutes of the game and the Cavaliers became the sixth team in NBA history to start a season 13-0 with a 114-106 win over the host 76ers, who played without Paul George and Joel Embiid.

NHL: The Jets beat the host Rangers 6-3 on Tuesday to become the first NHL team to earn 15 wins in their first 16 games of a season.

WNBA: The Dream hired Florida Gulf Coast’s Karl Smesko as their coach. Smesko built the Eagles into a perennial NCAA Tournament team. Smesko, 54, replaces Tanisha Wright, who was fired last month.
