“The Beach Bum”

Comedy, R. All right, all right, all right: Matthew McConaughey stars as Moondog, a happy-go-lucky, pot-smoking dude. Martin Lawrence, Snoop Dogg, Isla Fisher, Jonah Hill and Zac Efron also star. From gross-out director Harmony Korine.

“Dumbo”

Family/drama, PG. Tim Burton (“Edward Scissorhands”) directs a live-action version of the Disney classic about the young elephant with extra-large ears who saves a circus. With Colin Farrell, Eva Green and Michael Keaton.

“The Best of Enemies”

Drama/biopic, PG-13. Taraji P. Henson (“Empire”) stars as civil rights activist Ann Atwater, who fights for school integration in 1971 North Carolina. Her biggest opponent: a chapter leader (Sam Rockwell) of the KKK. Anne Heche also stars.

“Pet Sematary”

Horror, not yet rated. Yet another remake of a Stephen King novel! After a family moves into an isolated home in the country, they learn of a nearby pet cemetery that appears to exhibit special powers over dead animals. Jason Clarke (“Zero Dark Thirty”), Amy Seimetz and John Lithgow star.

“Shazam”

Action, PG-13. Zachary Levi (“Chuck”) steps into the superhero uniform when a 14-year-old foster kid, Billy Batson, yells out the famous trigger word. Djimon Hounsou and Mark Strong co-star.

“Teen Spirit”

Drama, PG-13. Afer entering a singing competition, shy teen Violet (Elle Fanning) teams up with a mentor (Rebecca Hall) who can change her life. Actor Max Minghella (“The Handmaid’s Tale”) takes a turn at directing.

“Hellboy”

Action/fantasy, PG. David Harbour (“Stranger Things”) stars as the title character in a reboot of the comic book anti-hero. With Milla Jovovich and Ian McShane (“Deadwood”).

“Little”

Comedy, PG-13. When a woman (Regina Hall) becomes stressed out, she reverts to a younger version of herself, played by Marsai Martin (“Black-ish”). Issa Rae of “Insecure” plays her best friend.

“Missing Link”

Family, PG. In this animated comedy, Mr. Link (voiced by Zach Galifianakis) requests assistance from “mythical beasts seeker” Sir Lionel Frost (Hugh Jackman) and explorer Adelina Fortnight (Zoe Saldana) to find his family. With Emma Thompson.
