Dodgers: Clayton Kershaw struck out 10, extending his major-league lead to 64, as the Dodgers defeated the Blue Jays 6-2. Kershaw, who has struck out at least 10 in four straight outings, won back-to-back starts for the first time this season. He threw a season-high 112 pitches, 74 for strikes.
A's: Marcus Semien homered and drove in three runs to help the A's win their first game in May, 8-4 over the Orioles in the opener of a split doubleheader. Winning pitcher Rich Hill allowed two hits over 52/3 innings and was backed by a season-high 15-hit attack.
Rangers: Adrian Beltre hit two of the Rangers' five homers in a 10-5 win over the Tigers, who lost their fifth in a row. Mets: Pitcher Bartolo Colon became the oldest player in major-league history to hit his first career home run when he connected on a two-run shot against the Padres. Less than three weeks shy of his 43rd birthday, Colon carried a career average of .089 and had struck out 119 times in 225 previous at-bats.
Extra innings: Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured left thumb. He originally was hurt April 26 while tagging out the Angels' C.J. Cron. ... The Reds placed pitcher Jon Moscot on the 15-day DL and optioned struggling closer J.J. Hoover to Triple-A Louisville. Hoover had given up six home runs and posted a 14.34 ERA over 10 2/3 innings. ... The Twins placed shortstop Eduardo Escobar on the 15-day DL with a groin strain and claimed former Dodgers reliever Casey Fien off waivers.
