The Severna Park location of Café Rio, a fast-casual Mexican restaurant chain, has closed. Signs posted in the restaurant’s windows push customers to the next closest location, in Olney. The Severna Park location opened six years ago in July 2019.

The food and style are comparable to a Chipotle or Qdoba.

The majority of the chain’s roughly 160 locations are on the West Coast, with the eight remaining Maryland locations and one in Arlington, Virginia, being the only ones west of Colorado. The chain got its start in Utah in 1997.

Dun and Bradstreet, a business data collector, estimated the location made around $230,000 in revenue annually.

According to ZoomInfo, another data company, a Café Rio used to exist at the Annapolis Mall as recently as November of last year but has since closed.

Café Rio did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
