Michael Joseph Flynn Jr., an information technology consultant active in the Air Force Academy alumni association, died of an apparent cerebral hemorrhage Saturday at his Catonsville home. He was 43.

Born in Baltimore and raised in the Rolling Road section of Catonsville, he was the son of Michael J. Flynn Sr., a longshoreman, and Beatrice Flood Flynn, a nurse.

He attended Our Lady of Victory School and was a 1990 graduate of Mount Saint Joseph High School, where he played football and lacrosse and wrestled.

He then earned a degree in political science from the Air Force Academy, receiving his diploma from then-President Bill Clinton.

Mr. Flynn owned and operated Millennium Performance Solutions, an information technology firm. Family members said he had customers throughout the country. He also had a second business, Apollo Sport and Security Consulting, in which he helped firearms enthusiasts get proper training, background checks and security clearances.

“He was someone who could fill a room. He was your friend for life. He could ruffle feathers with his arguments, and he made you think,” said his sister, Katie Flynn-Fuchs, a Baltimore resident. “He was your man at any hour of the day.”

“My brother was a strong believer in the Second Amendment, the right to bear arms. He was a believer in the U.S. Constitution,” said his brother, Timothy Flynn, a Columbia resident. “He also believed in the armed forces. He was a proud supporter of the military and the men and women who serve. He was also a kind, generous and loving man.”

Family members said Mr. Flynn worked with high school juniors and seniors to help them gain admission to the Air Force Academy, for which he was an admissions liaison officer based in Maryland.

He coached girls lacrosse in a Howard County recreation league and volunteered with wounded veterans.

A funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, 5576 Old Washington Blvd., Elkridge, where he was a parish member.

In addition to his parents, brother and sister, survivors include his wife of 13 years, Jennifer Strazza, a Naval Reserve commander who served at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; two daughters, Shannon Flynn and Maura Flynn, both of Catonsville; and another sister, Maureen Flynn of Baltimore.
