Feb. 5, 1971: “What else can I say about Brooks? It’s all been said,” Orioles director of player personnel Harry Dalton says after signing third baseman Brooks Robinson, 33, to his first $100,000 contract. It’s a $25,000 raise for the 1970 World Series Most Valuable Player.

Feb. 3, 1969: With 28 contests still to play, the Bullets win a club-record 39th NBA game, 132-122, over the Chicago Bulls at the Civic Center. Kevin Loughery scores 35 and Ray Scott, 23 — including 13 consecutive points for Baltimore.

Feb. 7, 1963:The Poly rifle team, led by Art Love, edges McDonogh, 689-688, at the 5th Regiment Armory. It’s the 148th victory in 150 dual matches over nine years for Poly.

Feb. 9, 1957:“There’s a lot I have to learn,” quarterback Johnny Unitas, 23, says after signing with the Colts for his second season. As a rookie, Unitas completed 55.6 percent of his passes, becoming the most accurate first-year passer in NFL history.

Feb. 7, 1954:In a basketball charity game at the Coliseum, a team of major league baseball players defeats the Colts, 41-35. Al Kaline (Southern High) of the Detroit Tigers scores 11 points for the winners, while Bert Rechichar, a kicker and defensive back, leads the Colts with 10.

Feb. 6, 1948:A 23-23 tie with the Institute of Notre Dame ends Seton’s 15-game basketball winning streak. Joan Wilson scores 13 for Seton and Doris Musil 12 for IND
