The CEO of Culta, a Maryland based cannabis dispensary, is stepping down after being in the position for close to five years.
Allison Siegel announced her departure from the company in a LinkedIn post published last week.
“Cannabis is not for the faint of heart,” she wrote in the statement. “It’s an industry where passion meets relentless obstacles, where entrepreneurs battle impossible odds, and where success is often measured in resilience rather than profits.”
Siegel became Culta’s first female CEO in January 2021. Under her leadership, the vertical-integrated cannabis company purchased two female-owned and Maryland-based dispensaries, Greenhouse Wellness and Kannavis. The company acquired the two dispensaries in an effort to extend their reach across Maryland.
Culta started out in Federal Hill in 2015 and has since expanded to Columbia and Urbana.
“I walked into a startup that had taken off like a rocket ship, ready to be operationalized,” Siegel said in the post. ” I am proud to say that as I step away, CULTA stands even stronger—with a solid foundation built by a team that has turned challenges into opportunities and proven their ability to lead in an ever-evolving industry.”
Culta has not announced a new CEO and could not be immediately reached for comment.
