Terrence Hillman, 34, of Baltimore, is wanted for a federal probation violation, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Back in 2021, Hillman was identified as the suspect shot by a Baltimore Police officer during a chase in downtown Baltimore.

The Baltimore Police Department held a news conference then, where the department released footage of the incident, including body-worn camera and CitiWatch camera footage.

According to BPD, officers were in the area known as “The Block” near the corner of East Baltimore and Holliday streets when they heard two gunshots.

Videos released by the department show officers encountering individuals fighting in the intersection. It was during that time former Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison said an officer noticed Hillman was armed with a handgun.

“The subject was approaching on Holliday Street and pointing a gun at the crowd,” said Harrison, during the news conference. “This confrontation was escalating from verbal to physical. When they saw him with the gun they started running. The officer saw it and pursued it.”

According to Baltimore Police, while chasing after Hillman the suspect turned and pointed his gun at the officer causing the officer to open fire and shoot Hillman.

“Hillman gets halfway down the block, turns and points the gun at the officer,” said Brian Nadeau, a deputy commissioner with BPD’s Public Integrity Bureau, during the news conference. “The gun is later identified as a Taurus Revolver. The officer fires his weapon, we believe three times striking Hillman who drops his weapon in the street.”

Baltimore Police detailed at the time of the shooting that Hillman was on probation and had outstanding warrants for his arrest.

He was taken into custody after being treated for his injuries at an area hospital.

Hillman was also charged federally for the crime and later pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a prohibited person.

Hillman was sentenced to three years in prison followed by three years supervised probation, according to court documents.

Hillman was later released from prison, but in July failed to adhere to the terms of his supervised release, according to the Marshals Service.

A warrant was issued for the convicted felon’s arrest in August.

“The United States probation officer made numerous attempts to work with Hillman. Unfortunately, he absconded from supervision back in July,” said Al Maresca, Deputy Marshal with the U.S. Marshals Service.

According to court records, Hillman has a history of gun-related offenses that goes beyond his 2021 incident, including a 2007 gun possession charge for which he received probation. Records show Hillman violated the terms of his probation that following year.

Now, in 2024 Hillman is again accused of failing to adhere to the terms of his release.

According to the Marshals Service, Hillman has family ties to west Baltimore, as well as Philadelphia. Hillman is said to stand at about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weigh approximately 150 pounds.

Anyone with information concerning his whereabouts is asked to contact the Marshals Service at 202-819-5058.
