UConn’s Bueckers out just few games
UConn star guard Paige Bueckers has a left knee sprain, avoiding a serious injury. She will miss Wednesday’s game against Xavier. Bueckers injured the knee in the third quarter of UConn’s win over Villanova on Sunday. Coach Geno Auriemma said she may miss a few games. “It is just a sprain,” Auriemma said Tuesday. “There is nothing torn, there is nothing crazy about it. Her knee got twisted a certain way, her ankle got twisted a certain way. It is just an awkward thing. We are hoping we have her back in a week.” Bueckers left the Huskies’ 83-52 win after Villanova freshman guard Jasmine Bascoe landed on the left leg of the UConn All-American as she dove on the floor for a loose ball in the third quarter. Bueckers leads No. 7 UConn (13-2, 4-0 Big East) with an average of 19.9 points per game and is tied for the team lead with 29 3s. Bueckers was the national player of the year as a freshman. However, injuries limited her to just 17 games over the next two seasons. She has started the last 54 games over the last two seasons with Sunday’s game at Villanova being the 100th of her career.
Musk interested in buying Liverpool
Elon Musk’s father says his billionaire son has expressed interest in buying English soccer club Liverpool. The Premier League club is owned by Fenway Sports Group, which hasn’t indicated it wants to sell but has accepted external investment in the past. Errol Musk told Times Radio that the Tesla CEO has an interest in the six-time European Cup champs. “Oh yes, but that doesn’t mean he’s buying it,” Errol Musk said. “He would like to, yes, obviously, anybody would want to. So would I.” He also said: “I can’t comment on that. They’ll raise the price.” In September 2023, FSG sold a minority stake to U.S. investment firm Dynasty Equity. Under FSG, Liverpool has re-established itself as one of the top clubs in Europe. Elon Musk, above, has involved himself in British politics since the center-left Labour Party was elected in July, using his social network, X, to call for a new election. On Monday, Prime Minister Kei Starmer condemned “lies and misinformation” that he said are undermining British democracy, in response to a barrage of attacks on his government from Musk.
