Tristan Easton scored 20 points to lead No. 7 Meade to a 62-59 victory over Annapolis on Friday in the Class 4A East boys basketball final.

The Mustangs trailed 59-56 with 1:36 left, but scored the game's final six points to win the region for the second straight year and became the first county team since Old Mill in 2005 and 2006 to win two straight.

Meade (22-3) will play the winner of today's West final between Walt Whitman and Clarksburg. The Mustangs are going for a second straight state title, which would be a first for an Anne Arundel County team.

Keith Duffin had 16 points for Meade, which went 6-for-6 from the foul line late after struggling there for much of the game.

The Mustangs led by as many as 13 points in the second quarter, but the Panthers closed the quarter on a 16-6 run to go into halftime down by three. Will Dion's 3-pointer at the buzzer gave Annapolis momentum. Meade led the entire third quarter before the lead changed hands eight times in the fourth.

Middletown 59, No. 5 Oakland Mills 58: The host Scorpions (21-3) put together a 21-13 rally in the fourth quarter that fell short as the Knights prevailed in Class 2A West.

Queen Anne's 68, Harford Tech 31: The host Lions (18-5) started fast and never slowed, winning Class 2A East.

It was the second straight year the Cobras' season ended in the region finals.

“We didn't match their intensity at the start,” said Harford Tech coach Bill Jones, whose team finished 11-13. “We knew they would press; we knew they were aggressive. They're a very well-coached team that pretty much took over the whole court on defense.”

Darius Dangerfield scored 11 points to lead the Cobras. Ahmad Gray led Queen Anne's with 18 points.
