Dodgers: The Dodgers placed two-time Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell on the 15-day injured list with left shoulder inflammation. Snell went 1-0 with a 2.00 ERA in his first two starts for the Dodgers this season. The defending World Series champs signed the left-handed Snell to a five-year, $182 million contract in the offseason. He won Cy Young Awards in 2018 with the Rays and in 2023 with the Padres. The Dodgers recalled right-handed pitcher Matt Sauer from Triple-A on Sunday to take Snell’s spot on the roster ahead of their 8-7 road loss to the Phillies.

Brewers: LHP Nestor Cortes was placed on the 15-day IL with a flexor strain in his left elbow, further depleting the team’s starting pitching. The loss of Cortes leaves the Brewers with Freddy Peralta as the only healthy pitcher among those projected to be in the five-man rotation this season. Cortes’ elbow problem surfaced last weekend following an outing that saw him give up three home runs on consecutive pitches and five overall in a 20-9 loss to the Yankees. Imaging tests revealed no structural damage, and Cortes threw six shutout innings against the Reds on Thursday. Cortes said the elbow didn’t feel right on Friday. Cortes is the eighth Brewers pitcher, and seventh starter, to land on the IL.

Rangers: Jonah Heim’s walk-off single with two outs in the ninth to center field scored Josh Smith and the Rangers beat the Rays 4-3 on Sunday for their fifth consecutive win. Smith had a two-out double down the left field line, his third hit to match a career high, off Edwin Uceta (0-1). Smith and Heim, hitting seventh and eighth in the order, combined for five of the Rangers’ seven hits. Jacob Webb (1-0), the last of three Rangers relievers, stranded the potential go-ahead run at second in the ninth. The Rays were swept in three games in their first road series of the season. They will return home for a 13-game homestand that will tie a franchise record. Their home schedule is being played outdoors at Steinbrenner Field, while enclosed Tropicana Field is repaired following damage done during Hurricane Milton last October.

Mets: Pete Alonso hit a go-ahead single in the third and the Mets beat the visiting Blue Jays 2-1 on Sunday for their first series sweep of the Blue Jays in 24 years. The Mets extended their winning streak to four by taking three in a row from the Blue Jays. The Mets had last swept the Blue Jays from July 15-17, 2001. Bowden Francis (1-1) walked rookie Hayden Senger and Juan Soto in the third, Alonso singled and Brandon Nimmo followed with a sacrifice fly. Alonso has 11 RBIs this season. David Peterson, Max Kranick (1-0), Reed Garrett, A.J. Minter and Edwin Díaz combined on a four-hitter.

Giants: Wilmer Flores hit an RBI single in the ninth and the Giants beat the visiting Mariners 5-4 to sweep the three-game series. Mike Yastrzemski hit a three-run HR for the Giants, who are 8-1 and off to their best start since 2003. Randy Arozarena tied it at 4 for the Mariners in the ninth with an RBI double after his team was down to its last strike. Flores’ hit came after Mariners OF Victor Robles was carted from the field after making a catch in the netting in foul territory to snag a fly ball.
