Stephen Curry was relatively quiet offensively during the U.S. Olympic team’s first two exhibitions before the Paris Games.

He got a lot more assertive on Wednesday with his official Olympic debut less than two weeks away.

Curry scored 24 points, Bam Adebayo added 17 and the U.S. beat Serbia 105-79 to improve to 3-0 in its five-game slate of exhibitions in advance of the Paris Olympics.

Anthony Davis finished with seven points, six rebounds and six blocks, helping to lead a U.S. defensive effort that limited Serbia throughout. Anthony Edwards had 16 points. LeBron James added 11.

The U.S. led by as many as 31 points in the last of a pair of warmup games in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The Americans now head to London to play two more tuneups before heading to France. The first is Saturday against South Sudan, followed by a matchup with Germany on Monday at London’s O2 Arena.

The U.S. had an uneven start before using a 16-2 run in the second quarter to take a 56-42 advantage and led 59-45 at halftime.

Nikola Jokic had 16 points and 11 rebounds for Serbia, which was playing its second game in two days.

Kevin Durant sat for the third straight game as he continues to recover from the calf strain.

Cycling: Richard Carapaz claimed his first Tour de France stage win after showcasing his climbing prowess in the final ascents. The 31-year-old became the first man from Ecuador to win a stage at the Tour. Carapaz won the men’s road race gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics but missed out on being selected for the upcoming Paris Olympics. Two-time Tour champ Tadej Pogacar of Slovenia kept the overall race lead after the 17th stage. He slightly increased his lead over defending champ Jonas Vingegaard of Denmark to 3 minutes, 11 seconds.

NBA: Mavericks G Kyrie Irving has a broken left hand that required surgery after getting injured in an offseason workout. There’s no timetable yet for his recovery. The 32-year-old Irving averaged 25.6 points in 58 games during the regular season while dealing with foot, heel and thumb injuries. ... Bucks F Khris Middleton is recovering from arthroscopic surgeries on both ankles this offseason, ESPN reported. The surgeries were related to injuries Middleton suffered during the season and were considered cleanups. He’s expected to be ready for the start of the 2024-25 season.

Soccer: Lionel Messi faced calls to apologize for racist chants made by Argentina’s players after they won the Copa America with a 1-0 victory against Colombia on Sunday. Argentina’s sports sub-secretary, Julio Garro, said Messi, who’s the team captain, and the president of the country’s soccer federation, Claudio Tapia, should apologize after a video was shared on social media showing members of Argentina’s triumphant squad singing a racist chant about French players with African heritage. It’s unclear from the video if Messi participated in the chant.

WNBA: Hall of Famer Cheryl Miller will coach the WNBA All-Stars when they face the U.S. women’s national team during Saturday’s All-Star Game in Phoenix. Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve will lead the U.S. team.
