Yankees: Michael Pineda (1-1) retired his first 20 batters before Evan Longoria doubled down the left-field line, and he wound up pitching two-hit ball over 72/3 innings in the home opener, an 8-1 win over the Rays. Pineda struck out 11, walked none and threw 67 of 93 pitches for strikes.

Giants: C Buster Posey was struck in the helmet by a 94 mph fastball in the first inning and forced out of the 4-1 victory against the Diamondbacks. After the game, manager Bruce Bochy said Posey was “doing fine” with no complaints and would be evaluated again Tuesday.

Padres: 1B-OF Wil Myers hit a leadoff triple in the eighth inning to complete the first cycle of his career, and the Padres beat the Rockies, 5-3. Myers singled in the first, doubled in the third and homered in the sixth.

Phillies: Pete Rose will be inducted into the team’s Wall of Fame in an on-field ceremony Aug. 12 before the game against the Mets. Rose, the all-time hits leader who was banned from baseball in 1989, made four All-Star appearances during his five seasons in Philadelphia from 1979-83.

Nationals: SS Trea Turner was placed on the 10-day disabled list in a decision manager Dusty Baker said was made easier by baseball’s new, shorter DL rule. “Baseball did one of the best things they’ve done in a long time,” Baker said of the change, which cut the minimum DL stay from 15 days to 10 for non-concussion-related injuries.

Red Sox: The clubhouse at Fenway Park has been fumigated and disinfected a few times to help fight the flu. The team begins a six-game homestand Tuesday against the Orioles. Hanley Ramirez played just two games because of the flu bug, and Mookie Betts returned Sunday after itu kept him out for a week. .
