Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph and his beat-up old truck got a lot of attention during spring training, so this seems like a good time to get an update on what he actually did with the pickup when it was time to head north.

Lest anyone forget, Joseph bought the 1999 Mazda pickup on Craigslist for $700 to avoid having to rent a car for six weeks. The truck, which came with a Wu-Tang Clan CD and quite a bit of potential bodywork, became the most storied vehicle in the players' parking lot at the Ed Smith Stadium Complex.

There's a rumor afoot that you are in the process of selling your beloved spring training truck. Is that true?

Yes, I can confirm that there's somebody interested in my truck.

There's also talk that you might not sell it because you have become so attached to it. So, which is it?

Look, this thing has sentimental value that you can't put a number on. You can't just come out and offer somebody money for something that is sentimental to them. Money is not a factor.

Is more money a factor?

That truck does have a price. It's a ridiculous price, because of the sentimental value. I have blood, sweat and tears in that thing for six weeks.

OK, seriously. Are you really going to sell it, or are you going to leave it parked at the spring training complex and drive it again next year? I understand you have someone there who is taking care of it for you.

The real predicament is I still need to do a little investigative work on the person who is wanting it. … If it's a family in need, I'm just going to give it to them. If somebody just wants to restore it or something, then I might have to think twice about that, because I love that truck. I really fell in love with it. It's part of the family.
