S-E-A Limited, an Ohio-based engineering firm that operates nationwide, said it will relocate its Maryland office from the Cromwell Business Park to the Aviation Business Park, both in Glen Burnie.

According to a Friday news release from St. John Properties, which owns both business parks, the firm signed two leases for around 31,000 square feet, more than a quarter of the park’s space.

The new space, next to BWI Marshall Airport, gives the firm a little more than 9,000 square feet of additional space, which Mike Jacobson, manager for Baltimore S-E-A Operations, said will be used for engineering, testing, and laboratory functions.

“Our move is a short one — less than one mile — so there should be no inconvenience imposed on our employees and clients, which was extremely important to us,” Jacobson said in the release. “But the new spaces provide us with a clean slate and the opportunity to execute a first-class tenant build-out that will allow us to showcase our company’s abilities and provide an attractive and productive work environment for our team. Part of this build-out also involves a testing laboratory that will support a variety of our core services, and the ground-floor location and flexible building layout were important considerations for us.”

The company said it hopes to move around 40 employees to the new location by summer.

S-E-A specializes in forensic engineering, conducting experiments to support litigation. The company can also put together animations, graphics, and illustrations to depict incidents. It uses a vehicle evaluation center, laser scanners, and other technologies to discover the cause of product failures. In addition, the company offers the same tests to businesses planning to release a product to find failures before it is on the market.
