Marjorie L. Huff, a tire company executive and former travel agency owner, died Monday from complications following surgery at Gilchrist Hospice Care in Towson.

The Sparks resident was 75.

Marjorie Lisa Gerken was the daughter of Lester Gerken, a sports broadcaster, and Marjorie Gerken, a bridge master. She was born and raised in Tenafly, N.J., where she graduated in 1960 from Tenafly High School.

She obtained a bachelor’s degree in education in 1964 and a master’s degree in 1966 in political science, both from Hollins College, now Hollins University, in Roanoke, Va.

Mrs. Huff taught school briefly, and in 1967 married John Stoddard “Jay” Huff, president of the family-owned Brooks-Huff Tire Co.

In the 1970s, Mrs. Huff joined the business as vice president and secretary.

In addition to her work with the tire company, she purchased Hunt Valley Travel Agency in 1989. She owned and operated the business for a decade before selling it.

Mrs. Huff was an active member of the Kiwanis. She had served as lieutenant governor in the Kiwanis’ Capitol District, and had hosted its convention.

She also participated in the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s Show House boutique.

Mrs. Huff was an avid bridge player and a member of several card groups. She was especially fond of the Bagel Group, which met once a week. She would never miss the group’s meetings, said a daughter, Jennifer Huff Erdman of Timonium.

She was a communicant at Immanuel Episcopal Church, and also served as Sunday school superintendent.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at her church, 1509 Glencoe Road, Glencoe.

In addition to her husband and daughter, Mrs. Huff is survived by two sons, Trey English Huff of Sparks and Todd Huff of Lutherville; another daughter, Brooke Huff Riegel of Lutherville; and 14 grandchildren.
