Where was liberal outrage when Trump was targeted?
Letter writer Sarah Pan recently complained about how New York City Comptroller Brad Lander was arrested and detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and how this was a sign of authoritarianism under President Donald Trump (“Authoritarianism starts with arrest of public officials,” (June 23). Really?
Now that the left is getting the same treatment given to President Trump for nine years, something is amiss in our government? Everything was hunky dory when federal law enforcement was raiding Mar-a-Lago and President Joe Biden was getting a free pass? Only now, when elected officials act like horse’s behinds and assault federal officers, the juggernaut is out of control?
Whatever happened to the political left’s cry that no one is above the law? Where was the letter writer, and her outrage, when unethical and possibly criminal prosecutors in Georgia and New York were making unprecedented and baseless attempts to impoverish and imprison Trump?
We’ve got a no-nonsense president who doesn’t suffer fools gladly. The left would be wise to wake up to this fact and start acting with some decorum, instead of like a bunch of power-drunk hooligans. Liberals should also realize that they established some dangerous precedents when they went after a president, both civilly and criminally.
I pose this question to Pan: If what you say is true, who’s really to blame for yanking the chocks out from under the wheels of this particular juggernaut?

Will DHS now deport all migrant labor?
The U.S. Supreme Court’s June 23 ruling that allows swift deportations has been described by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as a “victory for the safety and security of the American people” (“Supreme Court allows Trump to restart swift deportation of migrants away from their home countries,” June 23).
For each voter who voted for President Donald Trump because of fear of undocumented immigrants, I have two questions: Has an undocumented immigrant harmed you? Has an undocumented immigrant helped you? Have you, for example, eaten strawberries or lettuce, both of which are often harvested by undocumented immigrants?

Teachers deserve respect — and a fair wage
I was appalled by the letter to the editor from Judy Francis of Towson castigating teachers for wanting a pay raise (“Stewart is wrong about teacher raises,” June 21). Is she not aware of the impact a teacher can have on a child’s life?
This writer had three teachers who changed her life, who pointed her in a different direction and opened her eyes to the wonders of literature. Of course, we should support the first responders including police and firefighters. That is a given. But doesn’t the letter writer realize that a teacher’s day does not end at 3 p.m. with the dismissal of her charges?
It saddens me to think that someone can so willfully denigrate teachers and their value. Perhaps she would like to switch jobs and try spending the day with 25 children, all of whom may have different needs.

How bad are O’s injury woes?
Could The Sun run a featured article on the number of injuries that the Orioles have experienced in the last two years? It seems that every other time that an Oriole runs, hits or throws they are a candidate for the IL (formerly DL). How do the Orioles injuries compare to the league averages? To years past? Please include an interview with Cal Ripken Jr., I’d love to hear his opinion on this.
