An independent horror-comedy movie that was filmed in Annapolis and features a killer clown vampire is getting buzz from international markets.

“The Night Watchmen,” which is set in Baltimore, revolves around four inept security guards and a tabloid journalist fighting an army of vampires and clownpires, or clown vampires. Since the film's trailer release at the Cannes Film Festival last month, the movie is getting interest from all of the world, specifically in Brazil and Russia, said Cheryl Staurulakis, one of the film's producers.

Filming for the movie, which began in February 2015 and lasted about a month, took place throughout the former building of The Capital newspaper, off West Street in Annapolis, from the newsroom to the mail room. The Capital is owned by the Baltimore Sun Media Group.

The film is two weeks away from completion, she said.
