Joe Burrow threw for 327 yards and four touchdowns to break the LSU season record with 29 in the No. 2 Tigers’ 36-13 victory over Mississippi State on Saturday in Starkville, Miss.

LSU (7-0, 3-0 Southeastern Conference) had 415 yards of total offense and averaged 6.9 yards per play.

Mississippi State (3-4, 1-3) sacked Burrow three times and regularly confounded the Tigers on third down, but LSU managed to score points on every drive of the first half and led 22-7 at the break. A pair of third-quarter touchdowns sealed the win.

Booth ejected in Clemson victory: Clemson cornerback Andrew Booth Jr. was ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct after punching Louisville’s Trennell Troutman as he lay on the ground late in the third quarter of the No. 3 Tigers’ 45-10 ACC road victory.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney apologized afterward to Louisville coach Scott Satterfield and noted that there “will be consequences” for Booth.

“That’s not who we are,” Swinney said, “and that’s not who he is.”

The players tussled as Troutman ran downfield to cover a Louisville punt before Booth threw him to the turf around the Clemson 20. The scuffle continued and Booth threw a punch with his right hand as he straddled Troutman. Players from both teams swarmed them, and there was more pushing and shoving.

Booth, a freshman, was flagged for holding and unsportsmanlike conduct.

Sooners ride Hurts again: Jalen Hurts passed for 316 yards and three TDs and rushed for 75 yards and two more scores as No. 5 Oklahoma beat visiting West Virginia 52-14.

Oklahoma (7-0, 4-0) is unbeaten in eight games against West Virginia (3-4, 1-3) since the Mountaineers joined the Big 12 in 2012.

Oklahoma, which rolled up 562 yards of offense, has scored at least 34 points in 17 straight games, the second-longest such streak in the FBS since 1980.

Hurts completed 16 of 17 passes in the victory, with the incompletion a drop by freshman Drake Stoops.

In a scary moment, the Sooner Schooner tipped over while making a sharp turn on the field after an Oklahoma fourth-quarter TD, sending two spirit squad members to the turf along with riders inside the covered wagon.

There were no major injuries.

Auburn rolls on road: Bo Nix passed for three TDs and ran for another to lead No. 11 Auburn over host Arkansas 51-10.

The Tigers (6-1, 3-1 SEC) set the FBS record for the most consecutive made extra points (303) with Anders Carlson’s kick with 4:19 left in the third. On his next try, he missed and the streak ended.

Baylor, SMU, Minnesota go to 7-0: No. 18 Baylor scored 21 straight points in the final 10 minutes to beat host Oklahoma State 45-27.

Charlie Brewer completed 13 of 17 passes for 312 yards and a TD and ran for another score as the Bears (7-0, 4-0 Big 12) extended their winning streak to nine games, the third-longest in the history of the program.

JaMycal Hasty rushed for 139 yards and two TDs on 15 carries and had 66 yards on three receptions for Baylor. Josh Fleeks added three receptions for 126 yards and a TD, and the Bears had 536 yards of total offense.

Shane Buechele set career highs with six TD passes and 457 passing yards as No. 19 SMU improved to 7-0 with a 45-21 win over visiting Temple.

Reggie Roberson Jr. had a career-high 250 receiving yards on seven catches, including TDs of 75, 75 and 33 yards.

The Mustangs have opened the season with seven straight wins for the first time since 1982, when they were 10-0-0 en route to an 11-0-1 finish. The seven-game winning streak is their longest since winning eight straight during the 1984-85 seasons. SMU (3-0 American) remains in first in the West Division.

Rodney Smith ran for 111 yards and two TDs and No. 20 Minnesota improved to 7-0 for the first time since winning the national title in 1960 with a 42-7 road win over Rutgers.

The Gophers (7-0, 4-0) won their ninth straight game spanning two seasons. The nine-game winning streak is the Gophers’ longest since 1941-42.

Hokies win in 6 OTs: Quincy Patterson’s two-point conversion run in the sixth overtime lifted Virginia Tech a wild 43-41 victory over visiting North Carolina in the longest game in ACC history.

Both teams squandered opportunities to win the game in earlier overtime periods, as Virginia Tech kicker Brian Johnson missed game-winning attempts from 41 and 42 yards and UNC kicker Noah Ruggles missed from 35 yards and had a 44-yard attempt blocked.

The game marked the debut of college football’s new OT rules, which now call for going for two after the fourth OT.

The Hokies improved to 5-2 and 2-2, while the Tar Heels fell to 3-4 and 2-2.
