The designer womenswear boutique Ruth Shaw is returning to The Village of Cross Keys in early April.

The boutique has spent the last eight years in Towson at The Shops at Kenilworth, where it relocated after departing Cross Keys in North Baltimore in 2017.

“There is no place like home,” co-owner Brian Comes said in a news release Monday announcing the move. “We look forward to getting back to our roots and being in the heart of the Baltimore community.”

Founded in 1973 by Ruth Shaw, a local fashion icon who died in 2024 at the age of 96, the boutique has served as a source for high quality and upscale fashion pieces for women in the Baltimore area. The boutique features brands like Golden Goose, Zimmerman, Aquazzura, Jenny Kayne and more.

Ruth Shaw will replace The Store Ltd., an original tenant at Cross Keys in 1965, which closed its doors following the death of its founder and renowned jewelry designer, Betty Cooke.

“To be able to bring back a tenant as beloved as Ruth Shaw to take her space is a really special opportunity,” said Arsh Mirmiran of Caves Valley Partners, the developers behind the recent reconstruction at Cross Keys, in an email to The Baltimore Sun.

“In 2020, Cross Keys was purchased by Caves Valley Partners and has undergone extensive renovations including the Village Square and the addition of two new restaurant buildings. When complete, the redevelopment will feature roughly 350 apartments and office buildings.
