Deshaun Watson won’t finish the season as the Browns’ starting quarterback for the second straight year.

He’s injured again, and the Browns have new problems.

Watson ruptured his right Achilles tendon in the first half of Sunday’s loss to the Bengals. The Browns said Watson will have surgery this week.

Watson’s injury is a blow to the Browns (1-6), who have lost five straight. Dorian Thompson-Robinson or Jameis Winston will take over as starter.

Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa could return this weekend against the Cardinals after medical experts cleared him to return to practice following his latest concussion. Coach Mike McDaniel says Tagovailoa will practice on Wednesday, and if that goes well, the plan is for him to start at home on Sunday. Tagovailoa got hurt in Week 2. ... Commanders rookie QB Jayden Daniels is week to week with a rib injury suffered early in Sunday’s victory over the Panthers. ... WR Brandon Aiyuk will miss the rest of the season after tearing the ACL and MCL in his right knee during the 49ers’ loss to the Chiefs on Sunday. Also, 49ers WR Deebo Samuel is in the hospital with pneumonia. Samuel had trouble breathing during the game. ... Raiders QB Aidan O’Connell will be out four to six weeks after breaking a thumb during Sunday’s loss to the Rams. The team reportedly signed QB Desmond Ridder off the Cardinals’ practice squad.

Baseball: LHP Nestor Cortes appears likely to rejoin the Yankees pitching staff for the World Series against the Dodgers. The 29-year-old asn’t pitched in a game since Sept. 18 because of an elbow injury.
