Tanaka (13-4) struck out 10 and took a shutout into the eighth inning. Chris Archer (8-18) tied the Rays record for losses in a season, set by Tanyon Sturtze in 2002.

Indians: RHP Danny Salazar will miss his next scheduled start with a sore right forearm. Salazar was on the disabled list for elbow inflammation a month ago, and was lifted after four innings Friday night against the Twins after experiencing tightness in his forearm. “We need to go get him looked at and figure out if and what is going on in there,” manager Terry Francona said.

Dodgers: ESPN reported LHP Clayton Kershaw is feeling fine after pitching three innings Friday — his first outing since being out with a mild herniated disk. Kershaw completed his post-start workout and is in line to take the mound again Wednesday against the Yankees.

Blue Jays: LHP J.A. Happ earned his 18th win of the season to help the Blue Jays stop a four-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over the Red Sox. Melvin Upton Jr. hit a two-run homer, his 20th of the season. Upton has 25 stolen bases and reached the 20-20 mark for the fourth time.

Mariners: Ace Felix Hernandez pitched six scoreless innings to continue his dominance at the Oakland Coliseum as the Mariners beat the Athletics 14-3. Slugger Nelson Cruz had three hits and three RBIs, LF Nori Aoki also had three hits and drove in two runs, and 3B Kyle Seager hit his 28th home run to help the Mariners to their seventh win in eight games against the A's this season. Hernandez improved to 11-5 on the season.

Astros: RHP Collin McHugh combined with four relievers on a two-hitter as the Astros beat the Cubs 2-1. Rookie SS Alex Bregman homered, while Marwin Gonzalez drove in a run with a third-inning squeeze bunt.

Extra innings: The Dodgers activated RF Andre Ethier for the first time this season. Ethier broke his right tibia in spring training when he fouled a ball off his leg. … Red Sox LF Andrew Benintendi will take part in a simulated game Tuesday. Benintendi has been out since Aug. 24 with a spraining his left knee. … Tigers RHP Jordan Zimmermann made his first start since Aug. 4 after missing more than a month with a neck injury. … Mets RHP Rafael Montero will remain in the rotation and face the Nationals on Monday, manager Terry Collins said.
