


Dodgers: Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts fractured his fourth left toe and missed his second straight game Saturday. “The last couple days, it’s been hard for him to even put on a shoe, so that’s obviously why he’s not in the lineup,” manager Dave Roberts said. “But I still don’t believe it’s going to be an IL stint. I think day-to-day is fair right now.” ... Dodgers starter Tyler Glasnow has been transferred to the 60-day injured list. The team made the move Saturday when catcher Chuckie Robinson was claimed off waivers. ... Shohei Ohtani checked off another step Saturday as he works toward making his pitching debut for the Dodgers. The two-way superstar faced hitters for the second time since elbow surgery, throwing 29 pitches at Dodger Stadium in a 25-minute session before they played the Yankees.
Orioles: The Orioles placed Ryan Mountcastle on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain Saturday, a day after the first baseman left in the eighth inning of a 2-1 win over the White Sox with discomfort.
Astros: Yordan Alvarez’s hand injury is worse than it originally appeared. The Astros slugger felt pain in his right hand on Friday while hitting and a small fracture that was previously believed to be a muscle strain was discovered. The fracture is about 60% healed.
Red Sox: Red Sox relief pitcher Liam Hendriks has been placed on the 15-day injured list with inflammation in his right hip.
Mariners: The Mariners promoted infield prospect Cole Young from Triple-A Tacoma ahead of their game against the Twins on Saturday. Right-hander Bryce Miller was also reinstated from the 15-day injured list and started on Saturday.
Cardinals: Sonny Gray struck out 10 while allowing only four singles over seven innings and Willson Contreras had a part in both Cardinals runs as they beat the Rangers 2-0 on Saturday.
Braves: Starter Spencer Schwellenbach struck out 11 in 6 1/3 innings on his 25th birthday to help the Braves beat the Red Sox 5-0 on Saturday.
Royals: The Royals’ Vinnie Pasquantino’s one-out single in the eighth inning drove in Nick Loftin with the game’s only run as the Royals defeated the Tigers 1-0 on Saturday, snapping the Tigers’ five-game winning streak.
Blue Jays: George Springer hit two of Toronto’s four home runs and the Blue Jays held on to beat the Athletics 8-7 on Saturday for their fourth straight win.
Marlins: Edward Cabrera pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings, Javier Sanoja had an RBI single, and the Marlins beat the Giants 1-0 on Saturday.
Angels: Gabriel Arias hit a go-ahead two-run double with two outs in the seventh inning and the Guardians rallied from a four-run deficit to end the Angels’ eight-game road winning streak, 7-5 on Saturday.
Brewers: Rhys Hoskins hit two three-run homers against his former team, Jackson Chourio homered among his four hits and drove in five runs, and the Brewers beat the Phillies 17-7 on Saturday.
Rays: Junior Caminero hit two of the Rays’ season-high five home runs and Zack Littell threw his first career complete game as the Rays sailed to a 16-3 victory over the Astros Saturday.
Mets: Juan Soto hit his first homer in more than three weeks and the Mets sent the Rockies to another series loss with an 8-2 win on Saturday.
