A Towson woman was arrested and charged after hitting a Maryland State Police vehicle on the Beltway, officials said.
Harriet Penniman Van Kleeck, 63, was charged with suspected impaired driving and other traffic-related charges.
Just before 11:30 p.m. on Friday, Maryland State Police troopers responded to the inner loop of I-696 between Charles Road and York Road in Baltimore County for a reported trooper-involved crash.
According to an investigation, the trooper involved “had just completed a traffic stop and was inside her marked patrol vehicle when a Honda HRV, operated by Van Kleeck, cut across two lanes and struck the patrol vehicle, which had all emergency lights activated.”
The trooper was taken to Shock Trauma, but has since been released.
Van Kleeck is currently being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
An investigation into the incident remains active and ongoing.
