Jordan Klepper, former host of Comedy Central’s “The Opposition with Jordan Klepper” and a veteran of the “Daily Show,” will be one of the speakers at the Annapolis Rising event on Saturday organized after the Capital-Gazette killings last month.

City officials announced his appearance Wednesday at the event organized to show Annapolis’ support for freedom of the press.

The concert event, headlined by Good Charlotte at 8 p.m., also features local bands, including Dublin 5, Clones of Funk, The Great Heights, Skribe and others. It will run from noon to 10 p.m. on Calvert Street. The street will be blocked off from Northwest Street to West Street with the stage set on the West Street end of the block, city spokeswoman Susan O’Brien said.

Klepper will be speaking around 7 p.m. at the event. Washington Post editor Marty Baron will be speaking at 4 p.m.

The event will also include a medal presentation to first responders.

Tickets will be $25 and available through the city website at www.annapolis.gov and the Rams Head website, www.ramsheadonstage.com.
