Big Bertha Stable’s Taco Supream emerged from the shadow of his more accomplished stablemate Laki, outrunning the multiple stakes winner as well as two-time graded-stakes winner Call Paul for a three-quarter-length victory in Saturday’s $100,000 Maryland Million Sprint at Laurel Park.

The 6-furlong Sprint for 3-year-olds and up was among seven stakes and four starter stakes worth $1.02 million as part of the 34th Jim McKay Maryland Million Day program, named for the late Hall of Fame and 13-time Emmy Award-winning broadcaster that debuted in 1986. Taco Supream ($12.20) gave trainer Damon Dilodovico his sixth career Maryland Million victory and jockey Sheldon Russell his seventh and second on the day. The winning time was 1:08.80 over a fast main track. In other stakes races at Laurel Park:

Matt Schera’s Zonda drew into the field with an early scratch and went on to deny My Sistersledge a chance at history in Saturday’s $125,000 Ladies at Laurel Park. Ridden by Victor Carrasco for trainer James ‘Chuck’ Lawrence II, Zonda ($13.20) earned her first career stakes victory in her fifth try, completing the distance in 1:50.46.

Mr. d’Angelo came with a steady late run down the center of the track for a 1 3/4-length upset victory in the $125,000 Maryland Million Turf. Mr. d’Angelo powered through the stretch to win in 1:36.88.

Sheldon Russell guided Hello Beautiful to a 3 3/4-length triumph in the $100,000 Maryland Million Lassie. Hello Beautiful ran 6 furlongs in 1:10.33.

Anna’s Bandit covered 7 furlongs in 1:23.03 to win the $100,000 Maryland Million Distaff.

Ournationonparade won the $100,000 Maryland Million Nursery.

Men’s college soccer: Ryan Spadin scored in overtime to lift host Salisbury (8-6-1, 3-4 Capital Athletic Conference) to a 2-1 win over St. Mary’s College of Maryland (9-5-1, 3-4). Josh McRobie scored in the fourth minute for the Seahawks.

Women’s college soccer: Hannah Hoefs and Kaleigh Gallagher scored 2:23 apart in the opening half, as Loyola Maryland overcame an early deficit to secure a 2-1 home victory over Lafayette
