Anne Arundel County Public Schools’ 1,500 bus routes for the new academic year are now viewable on the school system’s website, aacps.org, ahead of the first day of school Monday.

The school system will transport more than 67,000 students to and from school daily. Families are encouraged to practice walking to the bust stop before the first day of school.

Pick up times and the Transportation Eligibility Indicator tool — which details if the school system provides transportation to the requested address — are available on the AACPS website. Middle and high school students are eligible for transportation if they live more than one and a half miles from their school; elementary students who live more than 1 mile from their school and kindergarten and prekindergarten students who live more than half a mile from their school are also eligible for transportation.

While creating the new routes, AACPS adjusted for the opening of two new schools — Severn Run High School and Two Rivers Elementary School. The redistricting process brought school changes for approximately 6,400 students. Seniors were given the choice to remain at their original high school, and those who chose to do so are not provided transportation.

AACPS is in a better position with bus driver staffing than it was previously. Entering the 2022-2023 school year, AACPS had 20 driver vacancies. This year, there are no vacancies. However, the county remains short on substitute drivers, so in cases of illness or other driver absences, some bus routes may not operate. Disruptions will be listed on the AACPS website and sent out via email and text.
