Carolyn Cordray Stein, a retired legal secretary, died of cancer June 26 at her Elkridge home. She was 80.

Born in Baltimore and raised on Grantley Road, she was the daughter of Carroll Cordray, a salesman, and Mina Roxbrough. She was a 1954 graduate of Western High School.

She became a typist for WFBR radio at its North Avenue studio and later worked at a Buick dealership, the Brunswick Cafe and the Westinghouse Corp.

She married Robert Francis Stein Sr., a commercial painter, in 1967.

After raising a family while living in Glen Burnie, she became a secretary at the Annapolis Legal Aid Bureau and later worked at Hall and Duvall Legal Services in Pasadena. She also worked in accounting at the main office of the Candy Kitchen shops in Ocean City.

Mrs. Stein was a former member of the old Colts Corral No. 15 at Kibby’s Restaurant on Wilkens Avenue.

She also made ceramics.

She retired to Selbyville, Del., and later lived in Towson before residing at Park View Senior Living in Elkridge.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. July 29 at Glen Burnie United Methodist Church, 201 Crain Highway in Glen Burnie.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 50 years; a son, Robert F. Stein Jr of Laurel; a daughter, Tonda Hollebon of La Plata; a sister, Elaine Cordray Deuber of Abingdon; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
