White Sox: Chris Sale pitched eight innings of two-run ball to become the majors' first 13-game winner in a 5-2 victory over the Blue Jays. Sale (13-2) allowed five hits, struck out seven and walked two in his fourth straight victory. Sale matched his win total from 2015 when he was 13-11.

Marlins: Jose Fernandez allowed one run in seven innings and struck out 13 to help beat the faltering Cubs 6-1. The Marlins won three of four from the injury-depleted Cubs, who went 1-6 for the week but still have baseball's best record.

Nationals: RHP Stephen Strasburg was placed on the 15-day DL with an upper back strain. The move is retroactive to June 16.

Pirates: Chad Kuhl ended Clayton Kershaw's nine-game winning streak in his major-league debut, and David Freese hit a three-run double that sent the hosts past the Dodgers 4-3. Kershaw fell to 11-2.

Twins: Tyler Duffey (3-6) retired the first 17 batters he faced and threw two-hit ball for eight innings in a 7-1 win over the host Yankees. The Twins hit six home runs to support Duffey, who pitched perfect ball until Aaron Hicks lined a clean double into the right-field corner with two outs in the sixth.

Rangers: Yu Darvish (sore right shoulder) threw 30 pitches in a bullpen session before the AL leaders' 6-2 win over the Red Sox.

Giants: Conor Gillaspie hit a game-ending RBI double with one out in the ninth to beat the Phillies 8-7 and give manager Bruce Bochy his 800th win with the Giants. Ramiro Pena doubled down the right-field line off Severino Gonzalez (0-1) then scored standing up when Gillaspie lined a 1-1 pitch in the same direction. The win gave the Giants an NL-best 49th win, one more than the Cubs.

Cardinals:The Cardinals had 13 extra-base hits, including six home runs, with two each by Tommy Pham and Matt Carpenter, to salvage an 11-6 win over the Mariners in the series finale. Nelson Cruz and Franklin Gutierrez had HRs for the Mariners.

Extra innings: The Orioles' four-game sweep of the Rays was their first in a rivalry that began in 1998. ... Jeffry Marte drove in Mike Trout with a game-ending sacrifice fly, and the Angels stopped a six-game losing streak with a 7-6 win against the visiting A's. ... Anthony DeSclafani pitched eight innings and singled with the bases loaded to help the Reds wrap up their weekend dedicated to Pete Rose with a 3-0 victory over the Padres. ... Kendrys Morales hit two homers and the Royals snapped the Astros' seven-game winning streak with a 6-1 victory.
