A Texas man was arrested after he allegedly stockpiled firearms and tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition while expressing intentions to commit an act of mass violence.
The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office said Jonni Carville is being held at the Wilson County Jail after authorities say he called two Comal County hotlines on Sept. 12, saying he intended to commit an act of mass violence, but he didn’t specify a target.
This prompted an immediate response from the sheriff’s office and a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper, who went to Carville’s home. Carville allegedly exhibited hostility toward law enforcement while talking only through a window. Family members also were uncooperative.
After an investigation that included help from the San Antonio Police Department Fusion Center and Texas Rangers, enough evidence was obtained that Carville had made terroristic threats, a third-degree felony.
With a search warrant in hand, authorities waited to take Carville into custody when he walked out of the house. Deputies said an intensive search led to the discovery of “nearly 100 firearms and tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition” inside the home.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is now investigating potential federal firearms violations linked to Carville.
Carville is being held on a $150,000 bond, alongside a federal detainer.
