A store’s surveillance camera captured the ambush of a Baltimore grandmother, her son and two granddaughters following a school basketball game.

Baltimore Police confirm Antionette Tunstall-Jennings, 52, was fatally shot in north Baltimore on Jan. 22.

Surveillance video obtained by FOX45 News captures the family stopped at a red light at the intersection of York Road and Woodbourne Avenue.

Two people appear in the frame on foot and are seen walking up to the driver’s side window. A third person exits the car that was stopped behind the victim’s car and begins walking towards the passenger side of the car.

Seconds later, gunshots.

As the suspects run out of frame, a car that had pulled up in the opposite lane just before the shooting pulls off.

Two victims then jump out of the car in a desperate attempt to save the young grandmother’s life.

According to police, Tunstall-Jennings’ 29-year-old son was also shot and her 11-year-old granddaughter was grazed by a bullet. Both are expected to survive.

“It appears that we had two shooters,” said Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley, shortly after the shooting happened.

The next day, Worley was questioned further on the motive. Specifically, whether the shooting was connected to a basketball game.

“I can’t get into what it was connected to. I can tell you it was something that should have never escalated, nothing should escalate to gunfire but this was something that was a minor altercation that turned into this family being targeted,” Worley said.

The victim’s husband said the family had just left their granddaughter’s basketball game where there had been an altercation between some people. The game was between Bel-Air Edison and the SEED School but had been played at Tunbridge Public Charter School, which is just two blocks from the intersection where the family was ambushed.

The husband told FOX45 News his family was on their way home.

Baltimore City Schools did not respond when asked about an altercation during the game but did confirm Tunstall-Jennings was a pre-K paraeducator at Waverly Elementary Middle School.

“This is unacceptable at any time,” said Mayor Brandon Scott. “But when you have folks shooting and gunning down women, right in the middle of a main thoroughfare, over any simple little thing, we will not tolerate that.”

Anyone with any information on the suspects and/or shooting is asked to contact Baltimore Police.
