Thunder rallies in 4th, takes 3-2 lead in series
Russell Westbrook had 35 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists, and the Oklahoma Thunder rallied in the fourth quarter to beat the San Antonio Spurs, 95-91, on Tuesday night and take a 3-2 lead in the Western Conference semifinals.
Kevin Durant added 23 points as the Thunder won for the second time in San Antonio in the series. The Thunder can end the series Thursday in Game 6 at home.
Westbrook sealed the victory with a three-point play with 6.3 seconds remaining, scoring after the Spurs weren't able to foul him intentionally and he drove for a layup while being fouled.
Kawhi Leonard finished with 26 points for the Spurs, who lost at home once in the regular season and have dropped two straight there now.
The Warriors' superstar certainly was.
Curry returned from a sprained right knee to score an NBA-record 17 points in overtime, finishing with 40 as Golden State rallied to take a 3-1 lead in the Western Conference semifinals with a 132-125 victory over the Trail Blazers on Monday night.
“I love this game, I love playing and love competing. And really, really missed being out there with my teammates,” Curry said. “To help our team get a win tonight and in that fashion, that was a good feeling in that moment to be back on the floor and playing.”
Playing for the first time since he was injured in Game 4 of the first-round series against the Rockets, Curry was rusty for three quarters and sensational down the stretch after the Warriors trailed by as many as 16 points.
“Remarkable,” Blazers coach Terry Stotts said. “It was a hell of a performance.”
