Diageo, owner of the Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Baltimore County, finalized a deal to sell 63 acres of land adjacent to the brewery, according to a news release.

The agreement, which closed this month, is a joint deal between Baltimore-based MRP Industrial and Clarion Partners, a New York-based real estate investment company.

The deal comes almost two years after the organization closed its brewing plant housed on the property and about 100 employees were laid off.

As part of the deal, Diageo receives a 300-space parking lot next to the brewery’s outdoor area with development beginning soon, according to the Wednesday news release.

The 12-acre Guinness Open Gate Brewery located at 5100 Washington Blvd. will remain open during this process as the company anticipates the parking lot to be finished this fall.

Guinness Open Gate opened in 2018 featuring a brewing plant that curated the infamous Baltimore Blonde, which is now brewed in New York. The Halethorpe location marked the first U.S. brewing operation since the 1950s.

The brewery houses a taproom and restaurant, with tours of the brewery available.
