Elli Kluegel (4 goals) scored what proved to be the game-winner with 1:21 left in regulation as No. 12 Loyola Maryland upset No. 7 Virginia, 19-18, in women’s lacrosse Thursday night.

Avery Shoemaker’s fourth goal brought the visiting Cavaliers (5-2) within one with 51 seconds left.

The win marked the third straight over a Top 20 opponent in the past week by the host Greyhounds (4-2).

Virginia trailed by four goals before outscoring Loyola, 12-9, in the second half.

No. 13 Towson 13, Saint Joseph’s 2: Kiley Keating made nine saves and Natalie Sulmonte had four goals to lead the visting Tigers (5-1) past the Hawks (3-4).

Towson opened with a 9-0 run and cruised.

The last time Towson held its opponent scoreless in a half was on April 15, 2016 when it led host Hofstra 2-0 after the first half.

Johns Hopkins 13, UMBC 9: The visiting Blue Jays (7-2) used a 3-0 run in the first half to wrest control from the Retrievers (6-2). The 3-0 run broke a 4-3 UMBC advantage and Hopkins never trailed again. Maggie Schneidereith (Towson) had a hat trick for the Blue Jays.

Richmond 11, No. 14 North Carolina 10: Ryan Lee scored the game-winner with 8:10 left as the host Spiders (4-3) stunned the Tar Heels (6-3).

Matt Cunningham had a game-high five goals for Carolina.

No. 18 Rutgers 8, No. 16 Lehigh 7: Jules Heningburg scored the game-winner with 4:17 left as the Scarlet Knights (5-2) beat the host Mountain Hawks (5-2). The loss halted a three-game winning streak for Lehigh.
