The Grammy Awards are sticking with Trevor Noah as host for the fifth consecutive time, the Grammys announced Tuesday. The comedian, best known for hosting Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” from 2015 to 2022, will once more be front and center Feb. 2, when the awards show is broadcast live on CBS.

Each of the last three telecasts has improved on the previous one’s ratings, culminating in 2024, when 16.9 million Americans watched — the highest TV audience since the 2020 ceremony.

Last year, the comedian joked about the relationship between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, and made fun of TikTok and Universal Music Group. “So anything can happen, right?” he said in his monologue. “This is like flying in a Boeing airplane. One minute there’s a door, the next one we are outside.”

The only other people to host five or more Grammy telecasts were musical artists. Andy Williams hosted seven shows, followed by John Denver with six and LL Cool J with five.

In addition to host, Noah will be a producer — and a nominee. His “Where Was I” has a nod for best comedy album. Noah was nominated in the same category last year for “I Wish You Would,” losing to Dave Chappelle. This time he’s up against offerings by Chappelle again, Ricky Gervais, Jim Gaffigan and Nikki Glaser, who hosted the Golden Globes.

Chesney plans Sphere residency: Kenny Chesney is Sphere-bound. The country star announced recently that he’ll launch a 12-date residency at the state-of-the-art dome-shaped venue in Las Vegas in May, nine months after he wrapped a U.S. tour.

The first Nashville act to play Sphere, Chesney will start his residency May 22 with dates scheduled through mid-June. Tickets are set to go on sale Jan. 31.

In a statement, Chesney said that he hadn’t caught a gig at Sphere yet but that he and members of his production team had seen U2’s film and “were completely consumed.”

“Knowing how much intensity our shows generate, my mind started thinking about all the things we could do,” he added. “Once you see how the show wraps all the way around you, the dreaming begins.”

Gerwig’s ‘Narnia’ to have IMAX release: Netflix’s upcoming “Narnia” movie will be exclusively released in IMAX theaters for two weeks worldwide, the streamer confirmed recently.

The movie, directed by Greta Gerwig, will be shown on 1,000 to 1,800 IMAX screens, according to a person familiar with the deal who declined to be named. Its theatrical release will be on Thanksgiving Day 2026, and it will premiere on Netflix on Christmas.

The movie is based on “The Chronicles of Narnia” by C.S. Lewis. It’s an epic tale about a magical world and the four siblings who discover and rule it as kings and queens. The books have sold more than 115 million copies.
