Police arrested a 33-year-old man Saturday in Florida in connection with the deaths of two people at a New Market home in August, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office said.

The sheriff’s office said in a news release that authorities from the FBI and the Fort Lauderdale Police Department took the man, a Miami resident, into custody Saturday evening after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

He is being held at the Broward County Sheriff’s Office Jail in Florida and awaiting extradition to Maryland, police said. The sheriff’s office said the man is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of Crimea Baker and Sean Lange, who were both found dead in a bed Aug. 25 at the Mandalong Court home after being shot multiple times. He’s also charged with home invasion and two counts of use of a firearm in a crime of violence or felony.

Baker, 33, and Lange, 34, were found at the home along with four unharmed children under the age of 13, the sheriff’s office said last month. Investigators believe that Baker, of New Market, was the mother of all four children, and Lange, of Arlington, Virginia, was the father of one.

The county sheriff’s office confirmed Tuesday that the suspect is the ex-husband of Baker. Chuck Jenkins, a spokesperson for the office, said in a news release that the public “can now be completely confident that this was a targeted domestic-related murder.”

“This investigation has been a priority of this office since the morning of the shootings,” the sheriff said.
