Wild captain Koivu out for season
Wild captain Mikko Koivu will miss the rest of the season after tearing a ligament and cartilage in his right knee.
Koivu tore his anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus and is expected to have surgery Friday, the Wild announced Wednesday. He was hurt a day earlier in a collision with Sabres forward Tage Thompson in the first period of a 5-4 shootout loss at Buffalo.
The 35-year-old Finn had eight goals and 21 assists in 48 games this season. He also leads the team with 488 faceoff wins and is tied for second with 12 power-play points.
Tony DeAngelo scored the decisive goal in the seventh round of the shootout, and the Rangers rallied from two goals down in the third period to beat the Bruins 4-3.... Morgan Rielly broke a tie midway through the third period, and the Maple Leafs beat the Senators 5-4. Rielly’s 14th goal of the season was Rielly’s career-high 53rd point. ... The Predators made a pair of trades adding size and toughness by acquiring Brian Boyle from the Devils and bringing back forward Cody McLeod from the Rangers. The Predators swapped a second-round pick in June’s draft for Boyle and will send the Rangers a seventh-round pick in the 2020 draft for McLeod. AP
