It's Valentine's day for Spartans
Denzel Valentine had 30 points and 13 assists, Matt Costello scored a career-high 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, and No. 8 Michigan State beat Indiana 88-69 Sunday in East Lansing, Mich.
The Spartans (21-5, 8-5 Big Ten) closed the first half with a 9-0 run to take a one-point lead. They had a 24-3 run to go ahead by 17 midway through the second half.
The Hoosiers (20-6, 10-3) fell out of a first-place tie with No. 4 Iowa, which they beat Thursday on the road.
Indiana's Yogi Ferrell was limited to nine points, eight below his scoring average and one more than his season low. Max Bielfeldt led the Hoosiers with 15.
Coupled with Indiana's loss to Michigan State, the win gave Iowa (20-5, 11-2) sole possession of first place in the Big Ten.
Nate Mason had 14 points to lead Minnesota (6-19, 0-13), which has lost 14 straight games.
Ryan Anderson and Allonzo Trier both added 14 points for Arizona (21-5, 9-4 Pac-12), while Kaleb Tarczewski had nine rebounds. USC (18-7, 7-5) got 18 points from Bennie Boatwright.
Marcus Paige added 15 points for North Carolina, (21-4, 10-2 ACC), which shot 59 percent.
Michael Young and James Robinson each scored 15 points to lead Pitt (17-7, 6-6).
Davon Reed added 14 for Miami (20-4, 9-3) and Angel Rodriguez had 11 points plus six assists.
