Astros: 2B Jose Altuve had his second straight four-hit game and team-record eighth of the season to help the Astros rout the Twins 15-7 on Thursday in the first game of a split doubleheader. Altuve, who raised his average to .366 and is hitting .438 on the road, drove in three runs and scored three times. 1B Marwin Gonzalez also had four hits and SS Carlos Correa homered for the Astros.

Yankees: DH Alex Rodriguez drove in a run with a bases-loaded dribbler, capping a three-run rally in the eighth inning that lifted the Yankees over the Red Sox 4-2. Rodriguez went 0-for-4 and was jeered loudly throughout the game. He is set to play his final game for the Yankees on Friday at home before being released and then becoming an adviser and instructor for the team.

Orioles: OF Mark Trumbo hit a grand slam for his major-league-leading 32nd homer and drove in five runs to help the Orioles beat the A's 9-6. RHP Chris Tillman (15-4) went seven innings for his first victory since July 21 and reliever Zach Britton recorded his AL-leading 35th save.

Pirates: Rookie RHP Jameson Taillon pitched three-hit ball for eight innings and 3B David Freese drove in two runs as the Pirates beat the Padres 4-0. Taillon struck out four, walked two and was helped by two double plays.

Brewers: RHP Matt Garza went six innings to win his third straight start and the Brewers backed him with three home runs in an 11-3 victory over the Braves. 1B Chris Carter had a two-run homer, and 2B Scooter Gennett and OF Hernan Perez each hit a solo shot to help build a 6-0 lead. C Manny Pina added a three-run double.

Rockies: Carlos Gonzalez delivered a bases-clearing, pinch-hit double that capped a five-run rally in the eighth inning and the Rockies held on to beat the Rangers 12-9, who had won five straight, including three in the eighth inning or later against the Rockies.

Extra innings: The Cardinals placed 1B Matt Adams on the 15-day disabled list with left shoulder inflammation, a move made retroactive to Wednesday. OF Randal Grichuk, who has played 84 games with the Cardinals this season, was recalled from Triple-A Memphis.
