Here’s the roundup of state college lacrosse games this week:

Division I women

Maryland 16, Fairfield 7:The No. 6 seed Terps took a 10-2 halftime lead and beat the visiting Stags (11-8) on Friday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Maryland will next host Penn, a 16-6 winner over Army, in the second round on Sunday. The Quakers beat the Terps, 13-12, in the regular season on March 31 on a goal with 24 seconds left.

Lauren LaPointe (Glenelg) scored a career-high five goals, Kori Edmondson (McDonogh) had three goals and two assists and Chrissy Thomas added two goals and three assists to lead the Terps (15-5), who are seeking their first national title since 2019. Kate Sites (Glenelg Country), Jordyn Lipkin and Emma Abbazia also chipped in on offense with one goal and one assist apiece.

In her NCAA Tournament debut, goalie JJ Suriano (Bryn Mawr) made seven saves. Kayla Gimore led the Terps with a career-high 11 wins from the draw circle as Maryland won 15 of 27 draws. Maryland has won 10 straight first-round games since 2007 and has never lost one under coach Cathy Reese.

Stony Brook 11, Loyola Maryland 8: The Seawolves (16-4) scored four straight goals to pull away late and beat the Greyhounds (13-7) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. After Loyola’s Gabby Stapleton (McDonogh) scored to tie the game at 7 in the third quarter, Stony Brook responded with a 4-0 run to surge ahead for good.

Georgia Latch had three goals and two assists, Chase Boyle had three goals and an assist and Stapleton finished with two goals for the Greyhounds, who finished as the Patriot League Tournament runner-up after an overtime loss to Navy. Lauren Spence made 10 saves. Stony Brook will meet No. 2 seed Boston College on Sunday.

Clemson 11, Navy 8: The Tigers outscored the Midshipmen 5-1 in the fourth quarter Friday in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, to secure their first NCAA Tournament win in program history. Clemson (14-6) will take on No. 1 seed North Carolina in the second round on Sunday. Mikayla Williams scored three goals and Emma Kennedy added two for Navy (15-6), which fell behind 5-2 early before rallying to take a 7-5 lead in the third quarter. Williams later tied the game at 8 with 11:47 to play, but the Patriot League Tournament champions were shut out the rest of the way.

Division II women

East Stroudsburg 18, Frostburg State 8: The host Warriors (15-5) opened with a 6-0 run and kept the Bobcats (13-7) at bay to win an NCAA Division III first round game on Thursday. Frostburg State was led by Julia Badolato (2 goals, 1 assist), Neila Haney (2 goals, 1 assist) and Nicole Gray (11 saves). East Stroudsburg was led by Sadie Kaufman (7 goals, 1 assist), Hannah Schiemer (4 goals) and Abby Simonetti (UMBC, 13 saves).

Division III men

St. Mary’s 18, Pfeiffer 9: The host Seahawks (10-7) bumped a one-goal lead with an 8-0 run with less than four minutes left in the game to win an NCAA Division III first round game on Wednesday. Aiden Doyle (Broadneck) scored three of his game-high four goals during the run. The Falcons finished with a 15-4 record. St. Mary’s advances to face host Salisbury in Saturday’s second round.
