Jimmy Butler is being traded to the 76ers in a package that will send forwards Dario Saric and Robert Covington to the Timberwolves, according to reports Saturday.

The 76ers also will get forward Justin Patton, and the Timberwolves will receive guard Jerryd Bayless and a 2022 second-round pick.

Butler, an elite wing and outstanding defender who was unhappy with the Timberwolves, will join two of the NBA’s brightest young stars in Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. The trade is expected to become official Monday, so Butler may play that night against the Heat.

The 76ers’ next step will be to agree on an extension for Butler, a pending free agent. The four-time All-Star averaged 21.3 points in 10 games for the T’wolves this year.
