A human skull was found in a wooded area near a cemetery in Towson, according to Baltimore County Police.

Around 9 p.m. Friday night, Baltimore County Police responded to Kenilworth Drive and Bosley Avenue for the report of a skull found in the woods.

Police said the wooded area was near the Pleasant Rest Cemetery. Crime scene investigators requested that the state’s medical examiner evaluate the skull, which was later determined to be human, according to police.

The skull did not show any indication of trauma and is believed to have been in the woods for “several decades,” said Baltimore County Police Public Information Officer Tyler Rivers.

Rivers noted that there was no evidence of disturbed graves in the cemetery and that police do not believe the skull to be a cause for concern.
