Judy L. Brewster, wife of the late Sen. Daniel B. Brewster, who, with her husband, owned and operated Windy Meadows Farm, died Oct. 11 at her home in Stuart, Florida. She was 84. No cause of death was available, family members said.

“Judy was truly a good person, mother and stepmother,” said former state Del. Gerry L. Brewster of Cockeysville. “She and my father fell in love, and it was the best thing that ever happened to either of them. They had 30 wonderful years and a farm life together.”

Judy Lynn Beckham, daughter of George Beckham, a factory worker, and Jewell Beckham, an administrator at Marshall University, was born and raised in Huntington, West Virginia.

After graduating in 1957 from Huntington High School, she attended Davis and Elkins College in West Virginia, where she studied speech and drama.

She met classmate and future Marine Kurt J. Aarsand, whom she married.

The couple lived at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, and Quantico before moving to Springfield, Virginia, where she worked as a model and was a homemaker. The marriage ended in divorce.

Mrs. Brewster met her second husband, the former senator, in 1975 when both were seeking treatment at a substance-abuse facility in Harford County.

“My father met Judy when both were in rehabilitation and on kitchen duty,” said Mr. Brewster, former chair of the Maryland State Fair. “They were not supposed to fraternize, but they broke the rules.”

The couple married in 1976 and settled at Windy Meadows Farm, where they had three children, Danielle and twins Jennilie and Dana. The farm became the centerpiece of their life. They raised vegetables, entered them in the annual Maryland State Fair, raised cattle, and maintained a horse racing stable and social life.

Mrs. Brewster worked as a travel agent for Walker Wilson Travel Agency and owned Honey Bunch Boutique, a children’s consignment shop in Reisterstown.

“Judy was my dear friend for 50 years,” Betty Ann Howard wrote in an email. “Her faith, family, and friends were of the utmost importance to her.”

Mrs. Brewster enjoyed planning family dinners and hosting an annual picnic for the Grand National Point-to-Point steeplechase race.

“She was a loving and creative person with a celebratory spirit, especially evident at the annual Christmas party,” Mrs. Howard wrote.

The Brewsters were active supporters of MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center, where he had been chairman of the board and she was on the auxiliary board.

Sen. Brewster was a member of the Former Members of Congress, and Mrs. Brewster assisted in the organization’s travel plans.

They were communicants of St. John’s Church, Western Run Parish, and members of the Green Spring Valley Hunt Club.

Mrs. Brewster enjoyed theater, music and dancing. She performed with the Paint and Powder Club, which raises money for local charities.

After her husband died in 2007, Mrs. Brewster stayed in Glyndon and spent winters at Mariner Sands in Stuart, Florida, where she enjoyed playing bridge and organized the Sunshine Ladies, a social group.

For the last several years, Mrs. Brewster worked with former Baltimore Sun reporter John W. Frece, whose book, “Self-Destruction: The Rise, Fall, and Redemption of U.S. Senator Daniel B. Brewster,” was published in 2023.

“My father’s life was filled with peaks and valleys, but he overcame problems, and he and Judy gave others hope,” Mr. Brewster said.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 30 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 232 St. Thomas Lane, Owings Mills.

In addition to her stepson, she is survived by two children from her first marriage, Kurt Aarsand, of Owings Mills, and Krista Aarsand Bedford, of Lutherville; a son, Dana Brewster, of Vancouver, Canada; two daughters, Danielle L. Brewster, of Owings Mills, and Jennilie B. Brewster, of New York City; and two grandsons.
