A county man has been convicted in Carroll County Circuit Court on numerous counts of sexually and physically abusing his three young daughters, according to a news release from the county state’s attorney’s office.

After the end of a four-day jury trial Friday, the 58-year-old man was found guilty on two counts of sexual abuse of a minor, sexual abuse-continued course conduct, second-degree rape and third-degree sex offense and three counts of first-degree child abuse continued course of conduct.

Carroll County Circuit Judge Brian L. DeLeonardo scheduled sentencing for Oct. 21.

The man, a native of Bangladesh, is being held at the Carroll County Detention Center. He is also eligible for the federal deportation system by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the news release states. The Carroll County Times is not naming the man in order to protect the identity of the victims.

At trial, April Adams, an investigator for Carroll County Child Protective Services, testified that on April 21, 2023, she received a referral for a report of both sexual and physical abuse, the release states. Adams went to the school where the three victims are enrolled to conduct a wellness check, and the eldest daughter provided information that prompted further investigation, according to the news release.

A forensic interview was conducted May 11, 2023, during which the girl disclosed that her father had sexually and physically abused her for the previous six years; the younger sisters also described in detail how their father physically abused them for years. The recorded interviews were introduced at trial as evidence of the abuse.

The case was prosecuted by Senior State’s Attorney Connie Yarborough and investigated by Det. Valerie Mizansky of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, along with Adams of the Carroll County Department of Social Services.

“No matter what well-deserved sentence [the man] receives, these young girls will never recover their innocence,” Carroll County State’s Attorney Haven Shoemaker stated in the news release.
