Her story: Meriel Colglazier, 28, was born and raised in Baltimore. Meriel works in advertising at Disney-ABC Television in New York City. Her mother, Sian Colglazier, lives in Lutherville.

His story: Garrett Wilson, 31, was born and raised in Baltimore. He works in finance at Morgan Stanley in New York City. His mother, Alexandra Wilson, lives in Cockeysville.

Their story: The two first met as St. Paul's School students in 2000 during a ski trip to Steamboat Springs, Colo.

“The first thing that stands out is Garrett throwing a snowball at me,” Meriel said.

“We were on a ski trip. That's what you do,” Garrett added. “This was [a precursor] to flirting.”

But it wasn't until after high school, during the summer of 2006, that Garrett asked Meriel out.

“I invited her to the movies. But little did she know I invited her brother with us,” he said.

“When I was coming downstairs, he was hopping in the car too,” Meriel said of her brother. “It wasn't awkward. My bother is an easygoing guy. We are very lucky. We're both close with our families.”

The couple live in Manhattan.

The proposal: Garrett proposed to Meriel during a family vacation in North Carolina in September 2015.

“Like everything in our relationship, it's always a family affair,” Meriel said.

The couple was walking along the beach with Meriel's brother and sister. Garrett attempted to walk faster with Meriel to put distance between the group so he could pop the question, but they kept pace. Finally, Garrett slowed down and allowed the rest of the group to walk ahead. Then he popped the question.

“I was very surprised,” Meriel said. “I think there were definitely tears — tears of joy. It was a really special time.”

Garrett also invited his mother down — unbeknownst to Meriel — so she could join in the proposal celebrations.

Venue: Two hundred guests attended the wedding and reception, which was held on the lawn of Meriel's childhood home in Lutherville.

Flowers and decor: The reception was held under a tent, and featured simple floral arrangements in neutral colors provided by Peggy Smalley.

Her dress: Meriel wore a custom-made dress by Modern Trousseau. It was made of ivory French lace with cap sleeves.

Bridesmaid dresses: The bridesmaids wore assorted shades of long, chiffon dresses.

Men's attire: Garrett and the groomsmen wore navy suits from Brooks Brothers.

Music: The band Nightsong provided music for the reception. The couple's first dance was to “Hold My Hand” by Hootie and the Blowfish.

Food and dessert: Rouge Catering provided the food for the cocktail hour and the reception. Passed hors d'oeuvres included ahi tuna served in a lime wedge, mini tacos, and crab cakes. Dinner consisted of a watermelon salad; a choice of Maryland rockfish or Provencal beef short ribs; fingerling potatoes; and vegetable kebabs.

For dessert, there was a build-you-own ice cream sundae bar. The couple served a the three-tiered, vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream icing from Graul's Market. Graul's also made a Baltimore-themed groom's cake, a carrot cake with the Orioles, Ravens and crab decorations.

Late-night snacks — buffalo chicken sliders and sweet potato tots — were also made by Rouge.

Special touches: The couple went to Bora Bora and Moorea for their honeymoon.
