Meade's game at Xfinity Center in College Park on Thursday night played out just like its previous two games there.

The No. 4 Mustangs built a big lead, never let their opponent into the game and pulled away in the second half to earn the right to defend their state title Saturday night.

Tristan Easton scored 13 points and Jerrel Elder added 11 to lead Meade to a 61-35 victory over Walt Whitman in the Class 4A state semifinal. The Mustangs have won their past three games at Xfinity Center by an average of 31 points.

Meade (23-3) will face Eleanor Roosevelt (23-3) in Saturday's state final. The teams played in the championship game of the Route 175 Holiday Classic on Dec. 30; the Raiders won, 62-54, after leading by as many as 17 points in the third quarter.

Breaking a 32-32 halftime tie, the Raiders built a big lead in the third quarter and held off a late Perry Hall rally to win, 69-59, in Thursday's other 4A semifinal.

The Raiders are in the state final for the sixth time and third in the past five years.

No. 2 John Carroll 64, Gonzaga (D.C.) 60: Immanuel Quickley scored a game-high 25 points and the Patriots (26-10) won a come-from-behind victory over the Eagles (23-9) in the Alhambra Catholic Invitational Tournament at Frostburg State.

John Carroll trailed by 17 points after the third quarter before taking the lead with four minutes left in the game.

No. 15 Glenelg 57, Frederick 49: Sophomore guard Jessica Foster led the Gladiators with 22 points and Chelsea Henggler added 12 to help them advance to the 3A state title game Saturday against No.?7 Poly.
