Über Bagels & Deli will open its fourth Maryland location in Columbia on Friday.

The Maryland franchise emphasizes making everything from scratch and operates from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays. The first shop opened in Ocean City in 2010, bringing authentic New York bagels to the area. In 2017, a second spot opened in Severna Park, and the third followed two years later in Timonium.

The fourth will be located off Broken Land Parkway next to the Jersey Mike’s Subs and Chipotle Mexican Grill.

Operations General Manager Digges Bosley, 35, said that at the core of the bagel shop is freshness. Every morning, fresh dough is boiled and baked, and bacon and eggs are cooked “on the fly.”

The bagel shop has a variety of specialty sandwiches like the “Go Bananas” — a chocolate chip bagel with peanut butter, bananas and chocolate syrup, and the “Phoenix Riser” — buffalo chicken, egg, pepper jack cheese, applewood smoked bacon and red onion. Customers also have the option to create their own sandwich, choosing from a variety of bagels ranging from cinnamon sugar to Chesapeake, as well as numerous deli options and spread flavors.

There is also gluten free everything and plain bagels.

“We’re very excited to be here,” said Bosley, who started at Über Bagel’s Ocean City shop as a baker in 2012. “I look forward to getting to know this community. We have a great community presence … and we’re looking forward to expanding around here.”

The bagel business started looking to expand last summer. A planned June 26 opening was delayed by a final permit approval. Bosley said the Columbia shop should be set to open Friday at 6 a.m.

“We’re not a chain, we’re a Maryland local spot,” Bosley said. “A place where people can get good coffee and great bagels.”
