Rock icons Billy Idol and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts will stop in Maryland this summer as they journey around North America on a tour announced Tuesday.

In the second leg of their “It’s a Great Day to… Tour Again!” tour, the artists will play a show at Merriweather Post Pavilion on Aug. 22, according to a news release. Tickets are available through artist presale and local presale, which begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, or through a general sale beginning Friday at 9 a.m. More details regarding tickets and other information can be found online.

The Columbia tour stop is a homecoming for Jett who once lived in the Old Line State. Jett grew up in Rockville, where her love for the Orioles grew. She has long been involved with the team, singing the national anthem for the American League Division Series in 2023, the first playoff game held in Baltimore since 2014. In June, she threw out the first pitch against the Texas Rangers and was the first woman to be the “guest splasher” spraying fans in the Bird Bath Splash Zone.

The 69-year-old British artist starred in a short film of just under two minutes to announce the tour, with Jett appearing at the end as his therapist.

The video also stars comedian Matt Rife and guitarist Steve Stevens while referencing lyrics from several of Idol’s top hits such as “White Wedding,” “Rebel Yell” and “Dancing With Myself.”

The tour begins on the last day of April in Phoenix and closes out in May in Toronto before coming back for the second leg starting in Philadelphia. The last show will be held in Los Angeles, and for every ticket bought, $5 will be donated to the American Red Cross for wildfire relief. Idol will personally match the donations from the ticket sales.

Idol is set to release a new album this year with Dark Horse Records after he celebrated the 40th anniversary of his popular album “Rebel Yell,” releasing a deluxe expanded version. He also released a concert film of his performance at the Hoover Dam and appeared at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside other stars.
