Alex Long sank a pair of free throws with under a minute to go that gave Norfolk State the lead for good in a 75-74 win over host Morgan State on Saturday.
The Spartans (17-11, 12-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) led 45-41 at the break and through most of the second half but Morgan State battled back late in the period to take a 72-71 lead with just under two minutes to play. Long drew a foul with 42 seconds left and sank both of his free throws to put Norfolk State back on top for good, 73-72. Nic Thomas followed up with two more with 14 seconds remaining to seal the win.
Mastadi Pitt scored 21 points to lead the Spartans, who lead in the MEAC standings. Jordan Butler added 16 points and five rebounds, Thomas finished with 14 points and Long had 10 points and eight rebounds. Stanley Davis scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Bears (8-17, 3-9). David Syfax added 12 points and 10 boards.
UMES 62, Delaware State 56: Isaac Taylor had 18 points and nine rebounds as the visiting Hawks (5-24, 3-11 MEAC) beat the Hornets (4-21, 1-11).
Canaan Bartley scored the game's final six points for UMES. He made two free throws to break a 56-all tie and later tipped in a rebound for two points. He capped the scoring with two free throws with eight seconds left.
UMES faces Morgan State at home next Monday. Delaware State faces Coppin State on the road on Monday.
Howard 74, Coppin State 73: RJ Cole registered 19 points and seven assists as the visiting Bison (13-15, 7-6 MEAC) narrowly beat the Eagles (6-22, 6-7).
Dejuan Clayton had 16 points for the Eagles. He also had seven turnovers but only five assists. Ibn Williams added 12 points. Chad Andrews-Fulton had 11 points and nine rebounds.
Boston U. 72, Loyola Maryland 65: Max Mahoney recorded 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead the host Terriers (13-16, 6-10 Patriot League) over the Greyhounds (10-19, 6-10).
Jonas Harper's 3-pointer gave the Terriers a 66-63 lead in the final minute and they closed out the win by making 6 of 6 from the free throw line.
Isaiah Hart scored a season-high 25 points and had six assists for the Greyhounds. Andrew Kostecka added 16 points.
Boston University faces Lafayette on the road on Wednesday. Loyola faces Army on the road on Wednesday.
Bryant 81, Mount St. Mary’s 58: Sabastian Townes had 20 points as the host Bulldogs (10-17, 7-9 Northeast Conference) routed the Mount (8-21, 5-11).
Vado Morse had 19 points for the Mountaineers. Damian Chong Qui (McDonogh) added 15 points.
Albany 84, UMBC 75: Cameron Healy scored a game-high 21 points to lead the host Great Danes (11-17, 6-7 America East) over the Retrievers (18-11, 10-4). The loss ended a four-game winning streak by UMBC. KJ Jackson scored 16 points and Joe Sherburne had 13 points for the Retrievers. The victory was the third-in-a-row for Albany.
Northeastern 73, Towson 58: Tomas Murphy matched his career high with 21 points plus 12 rebounds as the host Huskies (18-10, 12-4 Colonial Athletic Association) won their seventh straight home game.
Nakye Sanders had 13 points and seven rebounds for the Tigers (10-19, 6-10). Allen Betrand added 11 points. Brian Fobbs had 10 points.
Colgate 93, Navy 71: Jordan Burns scored 27 points on 10-of-17 shooting with eight assists to lead the host Raiders (19-10, 11-5 Patriot League) past the Mids (9-18, 6-10).
Danny Ogele had 12 points for Navy and George Kiernan and Cam David each scored 10

UMBC 69, Albany 60: The host Retrievers (9-19, 2-12 America East) went on a 23-8 run in the third quarter and beat the Great Danes (11-16, 8-6). The victory ended a six-game losing streak. Te’yJah Oliver scored 21 points and Janee’a Summers had 16 points and 12 rebounds for UMBC.
Delaware State 65, UMES 62: The visiting Hawks (15-12, 11-3 MEAC) lost the lead early in the fourth quarter and the Hornets (5-18, 3-9) hung on to win. The victory ended a three-game losing streak by Delaware State. Ciani Byrom had a game-high 24 points for UMES.
Howard 88, Coppin State 81: Jalynda Salley scored 22 points and Brooke Fields (Institute of Notre Dame) had 21 points, but the host Eagles (2-23, 2-11 MEAC) fell to the Bison (15-11, 8-5). The loss is the sixth straight for Coppin State.
Norfolk State 64, Morgan State 49: The visiting Spartans (14-12, 9-4 MEAC) took a 36-11 lead in the first half over the Bears (8-18, 6-6). Adre’onia Coleman (St. Frances) finished with a game-high 20 points.
Boston U. 66, Navy 55: Kolbi Green (McDonogh) had a career-best 20 points, but the visiting Mids (10-15, 5-10 Patriot) fell to the Terriers (13-12, 9-6). Boston U outscored Navy, 19-12, in the fourth quarter.
Bryant 77, Mount St. Mary’s 59: Michaela Harrison scored 22 points, but the visiting Mount (12-13, 6-8 Northeast Conference) fell to the Bulldogs (8-17, 6-8). Bryant got off to a fast start taking a 22-10 lead in the first quarter.
Colgate 58, Loyola Maryland 47: The visting Raiders (10-15, 6-9 Patriot) opened the fourth quarter with a 10-0 run and beat the Greyhounds (4-22, 3-12). Delaney Connolly scored 13 points and Molly Taylor had 12 for Loyola.
